One of the biggest time consuming processes we hear from users is the ability to collect needed information from patients before and after an appointment.  The change in check-in procedures to limit contact has made this even more difficult to some.  One easy tool to use to assist in this process is Updox Text!  Here are some of the most common use cases across the Updox base:

  1. Text the patient to take a picture of their insurance card securely to send back.  This can then be entered into the patient’s chart prior to the appointment.
  2. Remind patients of changes to your processes when they arrive to their appointment, such as staying in the car when they arrive.
  3. Send a link to a form for completion prior to the appointment.  Forms are a great way to gather data for review, then imported into a patient’s chart (with existing integrations). They are also mobile friendly so delivering them via text receives a higher completion rate.  Forms will be available to the customer base, scheduled for the end of this month.
  4. If a provider or clinician wants to check in with a patient after an appointment (medication follow-up, check-in on progress), you can send a HIPAA secure text.  You can ask the patient to reply to the text, or schedule a video chat if needed.

We have definitely been utilizing secure text way more in the past few months. We have been using it to send patients important paperwork to fill out prior to their visit such as new patient paperwork, annual questionnaires and other screenings. We’ve noticed that we get really great patient compliance and it makes our front desk staffs job much easier!!

We have been using securetext to send copies of their lab results and next lab orders, since our Practice Fusion portal is not user friendly.
